Thank you Melanie!
Kudos for having the courage to step up and be an imperfect ally! Oft times people avoid thinking or talking about their privilege; race, class, gender, sexuality, religion, language, body type, landedness, geographic, nationality, or ability, because they might not have all the 'right' information or language at that time. Cultural fluency is a life-long adventure for everyone, looking forward to learning and working together to move the social justice needle in health and PE. I encourage everyone to join the SHAPE America Diversity and Inclusiveness Special Interest Group on Exchange.
Thanks Martha. Having a difficult conversation is the easiest way to make those conversations more meaningful and less intimidating. I hope we did the topic justice and will continue to discuss diversity on social media, in the classroom and in our private lives.
